Private Investigator in Cedar Rapids Serving All Eastern Iowa
Ethics and Professional Conduct
March 31, 2015
Have you ever watched “The Rockford Files”, a PI series in the 70’s staring James Garner as Jim Rockford? On any given show you could see Jim picking locks, breaking and entering, stealing automobiles, kidnapping, and doing just about anything to solve the case for his client. As a result, his attorney was always getting him out of jail and the Chief of Police was always threatening to take his license away. Good TV drama maybe - but definitely a poor portrayal of how a professional Private Investigator acts in real life if he wants to stay in business.
Private Investigators need strong professional ethics to guide them. They must comply with a myriad of laws and a strict code of professional conduct. Professional PIs have access to special information that ordinary citizens don’t have. They have the legal right to look up a person’s license plate number, determine a person’s
background, current employment, unlisted telephone number, financial status, etc. With these privileges comes the responsibility to adhere to strong ethical and professional standards. We have a responsibility to protect the information we collect so it isn’t used in an unlawful manner. Besides, from a practical point-of-view, a PI can’t work without a license in Iowa and he certainly can’t serve his clients from a jail cell!
At Patriot Investigations, our clients can trust that we will only use lawful and acceptable means to achieve your investigation goals. All cases will be handled competently and confidentially and initial consultations are free. Call us today at 319-200-6213 and put a Patriot on your side.
